Mushrooms with walnut shells
This is a really easy activity that can also be done with children, either at home or at school… mums, teachers, are you listening?
Here are the instructions to create a jar of mushrooms made with walnut shells.
The materials you’ll need are:
- A jar or glass
- Gravel or sand (even coloured, why not?)
- Dry twigs or sticks
- Sprigs of seedlings such as ivy or dried flowers (fake ones are fine too)
- Walnut shells
- Acrylic or tempera paints
- Hot glue
Method:
Clean the walnut shells thoroughly and colour them with the tempera or acrylic paints as if they were mushrooms: a red background with white dots.
Prepare the dry twigs and cut them to the right length depending on the size of the jar you will use, then colour them white.
Using the hot glue, glue the walnut shells to the tip of the twigs.
Fill the jar with the sand or gravel, then place the “mushrooms” inside. Decorate them with a few sprigs of fresh or dried seedlings, as you like.
This jar is perfect to liven up the table or a corner of the home with a touch of joy!
